Very good essay, Gary. Direct, honest, pulls no punches, and works in some humor, too!

Am restacking.

Pithy, amusing and devastatingly written. I always look forward to your righteous anger. I was a librarian before I retired early - I could see the direction libraries were headed and I wanted no part of it. I see Carla Hayden was fired, which was an excellent development.

I remember when she was the Director of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore. That library was our voting place and she had a huge display of books featuring one candidate, which was an egregious violation of polling places. Nobody said a word (other than me). The American Library Association has gone Full Woke.

I was a member of the DAR after years of meticulous research into my ancestry...and they're now allowing men who say they are women - "Daughters" if you will.

I resigned from that, too.

Not surprised about the library stuff...but the DAR!? Wow.

Amen brother! I found a quaint little midwestern town that I adore, but it now decks itself out like it's Boystown '97 every June. I despise it. Maybe just maybe I was looking forward to living someplace that wasn't some special safe space but just a normal place that didn't openly hate on me? And of course the whole thing is spearheaded by a straight "my kid is trans" mom, started the year AFTER Bostock was decided, and explicitly targets kids. Ugh!

Solidarity with you, dude. You are not alone. Straight folks need to hear more voices like yours.

You can say this as a gay man whose life and privacy has been hijacked by the extremists. But if I said this as a straight while male I would be labelled a hateful bigot and cancelled by those extremists. Everyone should just live their own lives , let everyone else live theirs, and stop mutilating minors,

I feel for you. If it makes you feel better, I'm at Disney, which is basically San Francisco at this point. I'm a 'hateful bigot' too! The gay men at Disney have been so indoctrinated in this. I am literally the only one speaking out.

I did get a get a kick out of seeing a pride march in the southern Peruvian city of Arequipa in 2013. Gaywise, 2013 in Arequipa was probably 1983 in the US only with Facebook. And the music on floats was superb!

Reading this reminded me of all the things I loved about Gay Pride and gay spaces in the late 90's/very early 00's in Orlando, FL.

Thank you for writing this and sharing your important perspective. It makes me stop and think about what I really think and feel instead of trying to race to keep up with the changes. I’ve always felt like it is not my arena to decide what is right and wrong, best and worse. I’m on the outside looking in and the best I can do is look through the lens of being a woman. I’ve also felt like it has been important to protect people from . discrimination in the workforce- although I’ve never seen the efforts work in any meaningful way. You help me to see how the efforts have backfired and created a form of hate toward those it’s meant to protect. I will say this one thing I know for sure, I love you and I’m proud of your voice. Keep it up!

To whom you are attracted sexually is purely subjective and therefore cannot reasonably be contested by an outside observer.

Where you decide to live your life on a spectrum of superficial, stereotypical male to female attributes (and we all do) is also purely subjective and similarly cannot be questioned.

However, your biological sex reflects an objective reality which cannot be changed by your subjective personal view and futile attempts to do so can result in serious health impacts to you as well as harms to members of the sex you are impersonating (primarily women).

Others who are grounded in objective reality should never be forced to accept your subjective version of your actual biological sex.

Finally, it's past time for the LGB community to separate themselves from the trans activists who are trying to take away the rights of women to fairness in sports and to privacy and safety in their restrooms, locker rooms and prisons. They also advocate for the chemical and surgical mutilation of children many of whom would grow up gay.

Their actions are evil and the

understandable negative reaction to the harm they are causing is spilling over to innocent people who are just going about their business, marrying and leading their lives.
